MRI testing with Contrast Dye

I had an MRI done on earlier this week of my cervical and thoracic spine and my brain.  They took images of my brain and spine without the contrast first.  Then towards the end they put contrast dye in my hand with a needle.  Then they took more images.  I was in the machine for a good 3 hours getting all this done.  They had me get up a couple times and at one point put this support thing around my head to keep it still.  I got one of these MRI's done of my complete spine and brain 2 years ago but it didnt take as long as this one did.  That one only took an hour and a half.  I dont remember that machine being as noisy and buzzing as much as this one did.  I ended up falling asleep in the machine a couple times, which is probably good because I had to lay still.  I would wake up again when the machine would move or the lady had me get up to move for some reason and lay back down.  Overall it wasnt that bad though.   Not all MRI scans are ordered with the contrast.  Some people can have bad reactions to the contrast so it is only ordered when the doctor thinks its necessary.  I have a lot of allergies to medications but the contrast they gave me didnt bother me at all.  The contrast can check for things like abnormal blood vessels in your brain and to rule out tumors and other problems.  The radiology tech also told me that a couple of the scans they did were specifically to look for Multiple Sclerosis.  I still need to go and get the results of the test from the hospital.  I also had bloodwork done and need to get the results of too.  Im probably going to go get those today.  This link below has good information about MRI of the head and the Contrast Dye....
